Please never eat the following foods raw

No.1 The potato:

The potato is universally popular as a side dish to the meal be it as a jacket fry or boiled potato, as chips or croquettes do not forget the mashed potatoes.
Potatoes are not taboo for diabetics, but potatoes contain a lot of starch. This starch is very difficult for the human body to digest in its raw state. Far more dangerous is the solanine contained in the potato, there is a lot of it in green potatoes or in potatoes with so-called sprouts.
1-5 mg of solanine per kg of body weight cause vomiting, diarrhea and cramps. By cooking the solanine is transferred to the cooking water, so keep your hands off it and pour it away.

No.2 Green beans:

Green beans always a delicious delicacy, whether as a side dish or as a salad and in winter also as a stew not to be despised. But beware of green beans in the raw state, they are toxic to humans as well as pets. Green beans contain lectin (a complex protein). They belong to the secondary plant substances and bind carbohydrate structures, but this leads to the blood clumping. This can result in nausea, headaches or diarrhea. Clumped blood can also contribute to vascular occlusion. So boil green beans for at least 10 minutes.

No.3 The elderberries

Who does not like them the blue-bromo-him-earth and other berries. But the greatest caution should be taken with elderberries. The elderberries in the raw state contain a glycoside of prussic acid called Sambunigrin. Ingestion of the raw berries may cause symptoms such as chills, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Ripe fruits contain little or no sambunigrin, but they can cause symptoms described above in sensitive individuals. The berries taste best as juice, jelly or jam anyway, and heating them above 80°C is enough.

No.4 Eggplants

Eggplants are also very popular and most people cook them. It is also quite reasonable, because the eggplant is a nightshade plant, just like the potato, and also contains the neurotoxin solanine. So eggplants also in the salad should be used briefly grill or fry.

No.5 Bitter zucchini

Zucchini tastes delicious, whether stuffed or mixed with other vegetables or as a salad. But be careful if the zucchini tastes bitter, please immediately dispose of the whole dish. The bitter taste of zucchini comes from so-called cucurbitacins. These are also secondary plant compounds that can cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. In case of high intake of cucurbitacins, this can even lead to death.

No.6 Mushrooms

Some mushrooms are poisonous, of course you should not eat them at all. However, be careful with edible mushrooms as well. Only so-called cultivated mushrooms such as champignons, oyster mushrooms or shiitake may be eaten raw, if you can tolerate it.

Wild mushrooms such as red cap or witch bolete are poisonous when raw. Always fry them before eating.

Good to know: Many people also don’t tolerate cultivated mushrooms or herb mushrooms very well. This is due to the agaritin contained in raw mushrooms. Although this is not carcinogenic, as has long been suspected, it can cause digestive problems. Mushrooms taste much better when fried anyway, so it’s better to avoid eating them raw.

No.7 Meat,Fish

Very few people eat meat raw. Especially with regard to chicken meat, this is exactly right. Raw meat can contain a wide variety of germs. In addition to Salmonella, Campylobacter bacteria are particularly common. Even small amounts lead to a food infection with diarrhea, nausea and fever. You still want to eat a carpaccio or ground beef? Then pay attention to particularly fresh and high-quality meat. Raw fish can also contain germs of all kinds. If you want to eat sushi, make sure it is fresh and of good quality. Or go for homemade vegetarian sushi, which also tastes really good!
